Mambo

What's this you ask? It's my Papillon Creations Mystery Sampler from the Gift of Stitching magazine. A WIP from forever ago that I haven't worked on since April 2010. Last week, I decided that I was fed up with Hare Pyns and needed a break. Since I'd been talking about red samplers, and I remembered this one was languishing in the closet and has red in it. So, out it came. I've completed parts 1 & 2 (out of 5) and am currently working on part 3. I'm almost done with part 3 and I'd like to go ahead and finish this part at least while I'm excited about working on this piece. Part of the reason I keep pushing this piece aside is because I'm afraid I'm going to run out of thread. It's charted for Vikki Clayton silks, but I know she's changed a lot of her colors since then and I don't know that I could get additional silks that will match. Guess I'll figure it out when the time comes.

Here's how the whole thing is looking - please excuse the crappy crappy photo - I really should have at least taken this out of the frame but I was being lazy.

I did work on Hare Pyns a bit on Saturday. I'm still not excited about working on this piece. But I did get the background over halfway finished. I'm hoping to get the rest of the background done soon so that I can start working on the bargello panel. Oh, and to answer Dale's question on my last post - this is a class offered by Patrick's Woods through my guild. I don't believe the pattern is available outside of a class.

And I've been working along on ATS on Sundays. That tree has been interesting. I got all the branches and leaves done quickly (which you'd think would be the hard part), but then my tree trunk was over one stitch too far, so it had to come out and be restitched. Then I was able to get most of the fruits in. This is what it looked like yesterday before I settled in to work on it.

Last night I was finally able to get the fruits finished and the snake. I'm now officially done with the tree and have started on the angel on the left. I'm glad to be moving on to something other than the tree, although I have to say that since I saw Missy's snake - I've been anxious to get mine stitched. He's pretty darn cool with his blue spots.

I am grateful for migraine meds and Mountain Dew (well, I would be if they were working faster).

Oh wow! Love all three of your projects! I sure hope you don't run out of thread with that Papillons Creations piece. That would be such a bummer! Everything is so pretty though!

The first thing that came to mind by your title was candy. I don't know if that is good or bad. Great projects though. The Mystery piece is really coming along. Vikki Clayton has a forum so if you run out, you can post there and see if someone might have your dyelot and maybe do a trade of some sort.

Hare Pyns is really coming along! I know that over one is tiresome. And the tree in ATS is coming along great. Those motifs must each feel like a mini happy dance!

Love your Hare Pyns! If you think you are going to run out of Vicki's silk, email her and she'll give you a conversion or maybe she'll have a few skeins on hand. Also, post on her forum. I've gotten silk that's been OOP or changed from members of the forum. Good luck!

Hare Pins is SO beautiful. I'm so very much in love with that design. It's a pity it isn't available.

All of your pieces look so pretty! The Mystery Sampler looks fun. Isn't it fun to get stitching out that you haven't worked on in awhile? It's even more fun when you finish it!

Hare Pyns is gorgeous = I've seen 2 in our guild finished but I did not think I would ever get thru the stitching so I passed it by twice! I wish you luck getting the stitching behind you. Your UFO stitching is looking very good.
Enjoy it all ! Melody
