The Tortoise and the Hare

IMG_1969

And just when you thought I was finished with this Hare Pyns stitching...there's more. It's neverending. I just keep stitching. And I think that my tortoise-like stitching pace has become impossibly slower with this piece. After finishing the stitching on the main sewing pocket (albeit I finished after the workshop was over), I'm now attempting to stitch the smalls for the piece. Above you can see the needlebook cover.

And below is the pyn keep.

It's all that background stitching that kills you. Just two more pieces to go - the scissor sheath and the scissor fob. Wonder how long those will take? I'm ready for the stitching to be done so that I can attempt to get this thing finished. My goal is to have it done by the end of the year. Stay tuned!

I did also manage to finish the stitching on my ornament for the guild's exchange. That went really fast. I had it done in less than a week. Now to do the finishing so that it's ready to go. And like the other ornaments I've stitched for the guild's exchange, I'll definitely be restitching this one for myself. I can't wait to share photos!

After finishing up the needlebook for HP and finishing the ornament stitching, I moved on to a piece I'd like to have ready for framing in January. Not much to see, but the fabric is pretty!

This is the small beginnings of The Primitive Needle's Hand & Heart on 40ct Dill with Weeks. I got a lot further on this last night while watching Angels & Demons on TV. (Sorry you have to make do with the photo from yesterday morning - I'm too lazy to take another!) But, this should be a quick-ish stitch and then I have some other things I'd like to work on.

Not much else to share this time. I hope to have a Primitive Needle finish to share with you next time though! Thanks for stopping in!

I am grateful for a coffee date.

The Hare Pyns smalls look fabulous... I know it's been a PITA, but when you're finished you're going to have an heirloom.

The Tortoise and the Hare! Ha! It's more like the Torture and the Hare, lol. It will be beautiful and quite an accomplishment when you're done, Michelle, but what a neverending project. You get a big atta girl for sticking with it!

I admire your perseverance with Hare Pyns--it is sooo worth the effort but I think I'd have chucked it behind the sofa by now and then sang la la la la to myself everytime I had to look behind the sofa at all the things that ended up back there. LOL It looks great, though--beautiful work, Michelle! YGG on the ornament--I can't wait to see how you finish it! Love the new start, too!

A couple of my friends completed this project and I "KNOW" how much work it is to be faithful to it and perservere and get it done. YGG - it is beautiful - lucky you have time for anything else. Hope you enjoy some time with other things this fall. Cheers! Melody

Your pictures of HP made me pull mine out of the closet to see if it looked as good as yours!! It photographs beautifully, doesn't it? Aarrgh, I hate that piece, but you only have the two quickest ones left - you can power through them. Go Michelle, Go!!
