Adam and Eve SAL, Giveaway, Shores SAL, Stash, Stitching / March 31, 2009 by Michelle / 23 Comments

SOHRH 032109

I’m back, with just a little progress to share. As you can see above, I’ve finished the rocks in Block 1 of Shores and I’ve moved on to the ocean. It’s slow going, but it’s relatively mindless filling in, which seems to be what I’m wanting right now. I did attempt to work on the Mermaids for the Sunday SAL, but for the life of me I cannot find my chart and thread. I was “organizing” recently and must have put it in a “safe place” so that I would be sure to be able to find it at a moment’s notice. I’ll give it another look during the week and hopefully I’ll be able to get back on track with those girls. I’m all excited to start page 2. But, anyway…back to Shores. I don’t think I’ll be finishing with Block 1 this month. So, I’ll just keep plugging away at it, and maybe by the end of April I’ll have blocks 1 and 2 done.

Adam & Eve 033109

I’ve also made a tiny bit of progress on Adam & Eve (also Carriage House Samplings). Instead of moving on to the swirl the squirrel is standing on and then back to the tree trunk like I’d thought I was going to do…I decided to start on Adam. He just has a bit of hair at the moment, but should soon have a face as well. I’d like to see some more progress on this before my guild meeting next week. I love this piece, and it is so different stitching on this one than on Shores, even though they’re the same designer. Such fun!

I haven’t even touched my Catherine Theron pieces either since the workshop…maybe I can pick one of them back up this weekend. That would be nice, huh? Not too much else going on here. I bought five more skeins of NPI from Drema during her sale. These were the five I’ll need (that I didn’t already have) for Block 2 of Shores. I figure I’ll just buy them as I need them, in order to space out the cost. Plus, when I can get them on sale for $2.70 as opposed to almost $4, that’s a deal! I’ve also ordered a couple of charts from The Attic, but haven’t seen hide nor hair of them yet. I think one of them was on backorder, so hopefully those will come soon. Not that I need anything else to work on right now. When I get closer to finishing A&E, I’ll be ordering fabric for And They Sinned. I ordered all the thread for that at New Year’s, if you remember…so that will be my next big start I think.

Oh, and thank you all for your interest in the magazines. Two have been sent out, and I’m still waiting on Sherry and Chiloe to respond to my emails with your addresses. So, if you’re reading this…please get me that info so I can send you your magazines. Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy your stitching!

I am grateful for being welcomed back.

It’s a squirrel! Really, over one on black – I am very impressed. I don’t know that I could do that.

CHS & mindless filling, I’ve got 3 sections on my current block that meet that description.

Your Shores block is coming along. That block seemed to take a long time for me with the rocks and the water fill in. And your A&E is looking great too. I hate to admit that I haven’t picked mine up at all. Maybe I’ll just watch your progress! LOL

Nice progress, Michelle! The Attic can take a while sometimes for an order, especially if something is backordered. But they won’t forget you, don’t worry! πŸ˜€ I can’t wait to see your Catherine Theron pieces!

I love how the NPI colors look on your shores piece. Definitely worth the investment :-). I am going to do my VoHRH the same way, and just get them as I need them.

A&E looks great too. Hope you get lots of stitching time this weekend.

Shores looks great…too bad about the miscount, but it’s great that you’ve recovered and moved on. Those miscounts can so easily take the wind out of my sails…

Oh yes, I know all these safe places, and not only for stitchy things, lol. I hope you will find your mermaid chart soon.
    Nice progress on your WIPs.

My house is chock full of these ‘safe places’ which I can never seem to locate later on. Somewhere in this house, there are three NetFlick DVDs tucked illusively away for safe-keeping for the last two years. I really hope I find them before I move.

Your WIPs are stunning. To look at both, it’s hard to believe they come from the same designer!

    Hi Michelle,

I really love your newly framed
Just Nan RR. It looks amazing in
the frame that you chose for it.
It’s too bad that you had to rip
out and restitch the names of the
stitchers but I agree that it does
look much nicer now. Seeing these
    various JN designs all together
    really emphasizes what beautiful
    creations this designer makes.

I’m loving your Adam and Eve
    project, probably because it
    looks fantastic on the black
    fabric. The thread colours
really stand out on the dark
    fabric. You don’t seem to
    mind stitching on this colour
    of fabric either.

    Having been entertaining a
herd of frogs this week past
    myself I can certainly
    sympathize with you regarding
    the miss-stitched border. But
    the square is looking terrific
and is most assuredly worth the
    aggravation. I really like the
colour of the fabric that you’re
    stitching this piece on too.

Good luck on your new list of
101 things to do in 1001 days.
My favourite of your photos on
    your Cozystyle blog is Columns.
The canopy of trees in their
    different shades of green
    provide a rich, textured back
    drop for the white columns.
Even the swirls and lines in
the bark on the tree trunks
    shows up beautifully.

DH has just come upstairs and
told me theres been a weather
warning issued for our area of
    Ontario. We’re going to be
getting 15 to 25 cm of snow (!!)
    tomorrow……

Can I come live with you???

    Cheers!

Oh, Michelle, I’m so delighted to see so many beautiful things coming from your needle!! You are really hitting home for me…I’m such an Adam & Eve fan and collect charts of them, so I love seeing different ones stitched. Yours will be fabulous on the black! And the ATS is well worth every stitch you’ll take. Great work!
