Limited Edition WhimZi
DMC on 28ct. Graziano Lt. Blue Milan Linen
I started and finished the latest Just Nan WhimZi this week. It is much cuter in person than it looks in her photos, or even probably in this photo. The blue fabric is beautiful with the threads, and the over one duck is my favorite part. I don’t know that this design is a favorite of mine though. I’m interested to see what the other three seasonal “spells” will look like. Not too bad for a couple of days stitching. I did stitch on Barnabee’s Quest last night as my regular SAL night – although I think only Jenna and I haven’t finished him yet. I did forget to take a photo though, so I’ll post one next time. I got up early this morning, and spent some time sorting and organizing my thread, or as Eric calls it, fondling my thread. I had skeins of DMC in so many different projects and places, that it seems like I am always running to the store for more because I can’t find what I need. So, I wound some bobbins and made myself a list of which DMCs I have and which project they are in. I think the next time Michael’s has a sale on DMC, I might buy some of the colors I don’t have, just to try to fill in some of the gaps. I have so many duplicates too now…you wouldn’t believe how many skeins of 524 I have floating around!
So, remember way back in March when I got my bonus from work and ordered goodies with part of it? Well, one of the things I ordered was the kit for White Nights in St. Petersburg (Chatelaine Designs) from European Cross-stitch. They’ve been out of my fabric all this time, so I just received my kit. It is stunning – and this design has got to be huge based on how big my fabric is – wow! I think it’s like 411 x 411 stitches. And you wouldn’t believe all the Treasure Braid. Wow – sparkly! Well, anyway, it finally came…
The fabric I chose was the Blue Spruce. I like the solid colored fabrics for Martina’s designs – I think they’re so intricate on their own that hand-dyeds or opalescents don’t lend themselves to the designs. Although I have seen a few that are very pretty on hand-dyeds.
I’ve actually been able to stitch most of today which was really nice. I’ve done some laundry too, so it’s been productive. It is so rare that Eric and I have a day here at the house. I’ll be sure to post a progress photo of what I’ve been stitching on soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
I am grateful for a day of rest.
